Solar Thermal Heating

A sustainable alternative to heating domestic hot water

Heating water accounts for almost 18% of an average home's energy use. Solar thermal, also known as a solar thermal hot water heating system, is a renewable and sustainable alternative heating solution to provide homes with free hot water.

With the ever rising cost of fossil fuels, and as part of the global challenge to reduce the amount of carbon emissions, renewable and sustainable alternatives like solar thermal are becoming increasingly popular.

Solar thermal can easily be integrated and installed alongside your existing boiler or hot water heating system. Solar thermal helps you reduce how often you need to use your boiler, reducing your heating bills, whilst cutting your home's carbon emissions by burning less fossil fuels, so you can do your bit to help the environment.

Our solar thermal system consists of 4 main components:

  • 1. Solar collector (panel)

A flat plate solar collector designed to absorb the energy from the sun.

  • 4. Controller

A controller panel controls the pump and provides information on the solar thermal system's performance, as well as any faults.

  • 3. Pump

The pump ensures the transfer fluid is circulated between the collectors and the water tank efficiently.

  • 2. Water tank (cylinder)

The heat absorbed by the solar collectors is pumped to a specialised coil in the solar thermal water tank.

How it Works:

Out solar thermal system works alongside conventional water heating systems and uses a solar panel to collect heat from the sun to heat up water that is stored in a hot water tank.

Solar thermal systems are designed to reduce the amount of fossil fuels needed to heat domestic hot water, saving money on heating bills and reducing carbon emissions.
